Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure."

WHAT WAS STRONG BODY/JOYFUL HEART?

  • A fitness/fundraising endeavor to benefit myself physically and the Joyful Heart Foundation financially.
AND WHAT IS THE JOYFUL HEART FOUNDATION?
  • I'm glad you asked!  Joyful Heart is an innovative and groundbreaking non-profit, established by award-winning actress/ardent activist Mariska Hargitay, that "provides healing, hope and possibility to survivors of violence and abuse".
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE JHF?
  • I've followed the growth of Joyful Heart since its beginning and am so impressed by their pioneering efforts and revolutionary programs.  Additionally, I've had the opportunity to meet Mariska and some JHF staff--they truly are wonderful people passionate about the important work they do.  I am very proud to support the Joyful Heart Foundation because I know that they will use the funds to profoundly change someone's life for the better.

WHAT'S THIS FITNESS BUSINESS?
  • The fitness aspect of this endeavor entailed me working my tail off in a ten week long fitness course:  the  Ultimate Body Challenge, formerly the Ultimate Bodyshaping Course. UBC combines cardio kickboxing, resistance training, and a nutritional program along with some rather motivating coaches, instructors, and teammates.  I participated in this life changing course twice at the fabulous ATA Black Belt Academy in Minot, North Dakota where I continue to train.
WHAT WERE THE GOALS FOR THIS ENDEAVOR?
  • Personally, my main goal was to become a healthier, stronger and more active person.  Losing weight and toning up were added benefits!
  • The goal for the fundraising aspect of SB/JH was to raise a minimum of $500 by March 20th and then to raise another $500 by May 29th for a total of $1,000.
HOW DID PEOPLE HELP?
  • Splendid Sponsors supported my fitness journey with a minimum $10 donation to the Joyful Heart Foundation.
  • So many wonderful people sent notes of encouragement that kept me working hard, focused, and determined.
WHAT DID I DO TO CONTRIBUTE?
  • For each pound and every inch I lost, I doubled the total and gladly donated that amount to JHF.
