Meet the Artist

ANNIE LANGSETH

  • I have a head full of tiny curls and big dreams.  With all of my heart I believe...  I believe in myself, though I forget that now and then.  I believe that life ultimately comes down to two decisions.  To do nothing or to do something.  I believe in the magic of the little things.  I believe that it is incredibly important to say "I love you" to someone every morning--even if it is only to your dogs.  I believe that God has created us all to be more than capable to handle wherever our lives' journeys may take us.  I want to be brave enough to let go of myself and leap into the unknown, but I might need a bit of a push.  Just a tiny nudge.  My philosophy is this:  You can be the best at anything, but you're never better than anyone.  I think that true brilliance and true beauty are found when we are the most vulnerable and void of all that we use to cover who we are.  There is a genuineness in vulnerability that is unparalleled and yet so across-the-board.  I have learned that the truth can be hard to grasp and even more difficult to cope with because truth is not based on reason, it is based on fact. When you open yourself up to truth you no doubt open yourself up to pain, loss, and tragedy. But you also open yourself up to the resilience of the human spirit, love, and hope. It's not always fair, but what I have learned more than anything is that it is always worth it.  Writing and art free me from myself.

Meet the Art Assistants

WHISKEY JACK

  • Whiskey Jack is a long haired Dachshund who spends most of his time chomping on a bone, sleeping, and frolicking outside.  His age is unknown because I'm his third owner, but his re-Birthday is January 25th.  He enjoys kayak and pontoon rides, hiding underneath the bed, hunting squirrels, and waking me up in the morning.  In the art room, he sleeps underneath a little wingback chair, bathes in the the afternoon sun, and also weaves through art supplies to capture my attention.

GERTIE SUE

  • Two-year-old Gertie Sue is a happy and intelligent English Bulldog.  She is particularly fond of treats, trying to squeeze underneath the bed, and chewing on the occasional window frame.  Gertie also loves to welcome visitors and has snored her way into the hearts of all who have met her...well, almost.  She is much more agile and athletic than people give her credit for, but plays to their sympathies in order to be picked up and have her big belly rubbed.  Gertie sleeps peacefully in the art room by my side.
